MSC Status Match: Cruise lines, Hotels & How to Apply
Already have loyalty status with another cruise line or hotel? MSC’s Status Match program could give you Voyagers Club benefits before your first MSC cruise.
Enrollment is free, and MSC assigns an eligible membership tier based on your existing status. You’ll need to apply and receive approval rather than assuming your status carries over automatically.
For cruisers thinking about trying MSC, this is something to check before booking. Here’s how Royal Caribbean status matching works, which other programs to consider and how to submit your request.
Does MSC Status Match Royal Caribbean?
Yes. Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Society members can apply for MSC status matching where the program is available. However, matching does not necessarily mean receiving the same tier name. Royal Caribbean Diamond, for example, has been matched to MSC Gold!
Treat that as an example, not a guaranteed award. MSC uses internal conversion rates and confirms your Voyagers Club tier after reviewing your application. A familiar name such as Gold or Diamond can represent different benefits in different loyalty programs.
This is separate from Royal Caribbean Group’s own status matching between Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea. That arrangement does not automatically enroll you in MSC’s program.
Which Cruise Lines and Hotels Does MSC Status Match?
Royal Caribbean is only one option. Published coverage of MSC’s program also identifies Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian, Princess, Holland America and Disney, along with hotel programs including Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy and World of Hyatt!
| Existing loyalty program | What to consider before applying |
|---|---|
| Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Society | Matching tier names do not guarantee equivalent MSC status. |
| Carnival VIFP, Norwegian Latitudes and other cruise programs | Check your current tier and compare it with any hotel memberships you hold. |
| Celebrity Captain’s Club | Keep the MSC application separate from Royal Caribbean Group’s matching program. |
| Hilton Honors | Compare your potential match with your cruise-line status before choosing. |
| Marriott Bonvoy or World of Hyatt | Check these even if you initially planned to use a cruise membership. |
My suggestion is to check all your memberships before submitting anything. Your most-used cruise line may not be the program that gives you the most useful potential match.
How to Apply for MSC Status Match
MSC’s U.S. terms require applicants to be at least 18 and provide a scan or screenshot of their current external loyalty card. Each applicant needs a unique email address. MSC Cruises
- Compare your memberships. Use your current cruise and hotel tiers to explore potential matches.
- Prepare clear proof. Make sure your name, loyalty program and current tier are readable.
- Open the official application. U.S. readers can use MSC’s Status Match form. Readers elsewhere should check their local MSC website.
- Submit your information carefully. Check spelling and your email address before sending.
- Save your approval. Review the awarded tier and membership number, then ask MSC or your travel advisor to check that your reservation reflects the correct membership.
How Long Does MSC Status Match Take?
MSC’s U.S. terms say to allow approximately three business days. That is an estimate, so I would leave extra time rather than applying immediately before departure. MSC also says you cannot register for status matching during the cruise.
Save your submission confirmation and check your spam folder while waiting. If your sailing is approaching without a response, contact MSC or your travel advisor for help checking the request.
Should You Apply Before Booking Your MSC Cruise?
Ideally, yes. MSC’s U.S. status match terms say the 5% cruise discount applies to bookings made after status match registration. Applying early gives you time to receive approval and check the eligible fare before committing.
If you have already booked, ask MSC or your travel advisor what can be applied to your reservation. Do not assume approval automatically reduces an existing booking’s price.
What Benefits Do You Get With MSC Status Match?
You receive the benefits of the MSC Voyagers Club tier you are awarded. MSC highlights booking savings and tier-dependent onboard benefits, including discounts on certain spa services, Wi-Fi and photo packages.
Before sailing, review MSC’s current membership benefits for your approved tier. Focus on the perks you would actually use, and check any restrictions attached to them.
Can You Status Match to MSC Blue Diamond?
Sadly, no! MSC’s Voyagers Club terms exclude Blue Diamond from status match applications. So, do not assume that another company’s highest tier will unlock MSC’s highest membership level.
Can You Apply for MSC Status Match More Than Once?
MSC limits status matching to once per customer. If you hold several eligible memberships, you must choose one to submit. Points from another loyalty program cannot be combined with MSC Voyagers Club points.
That is why comparing your options first matters. Avoid submitting whichever membership card happens to be easiest to find.
Does MSC Status Match Expire?
Matched membership remains subject to MSC Voyagers Club rules. MSC’s published FAQ says points and status remain valid provided you complete at least one MSC cruise within five years. It is not lifetime status that you can leave unused indefinitely.
Is MSC Ending Its Status Match Program?
Not everywhere. As of November 3, 2026, the program remains available in the United States and Canada. MSC confirmed to Cruise Critic that it stopped accepting new applications in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal on October 15, 2026. Previously awarded status remains subject to the normal Voyagers Club rules.
Those headlines are a good reason to check the MSC website for your country. A change in one market does not automatically mean the same change applies to your application.
