MSC World Asia Is Heading to the Caribbean

MSC World Asia hasn’t even entered service yet, but MSC Cruises is already making a major change to the new ship’s future plans.

For the Winter 2027/28 season, MSC World Asia will leave the Mediterranean and head to the Southern Caribbean, offering 7- and 14-night cruises from Barbados, Martinique and Guadeloupe.

Where Will MSC World Asia Sail?

Guests will be able to embark in Bridgetown, Barbados; Fort-de-France, Martinique; and Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe.

Depending on the itinerary, ports will include:

  • Castries, Saint Lucia
  • St. George’s, Grenada
  • Philipsburg, St. Maarten
  • St. John’s, Antigua
  • Basseterre, St. Kitts
  • Roseau, Dominica
  • Kingstown, St. Vincent

It’s an interesting home for one of MSC’s newest ships. World Asia will bring the World Class design, huge outdoor promenade, family attractions and Cliffhanger over-water swing to warm-weather Caribbean itineraries.

So, What Happened to MSC Meraviglia?

Here’s where the deployment shuffle gets a little more interesting.

MSC Meraviglia was originally scheduled to operate these Southern Caribbean cruises. When MSC announced the change, the cruise line confirmed that guests booked on Meraviglia would have their reservations updated as World Asia took over the itineraries.

Now we know where Meraviglia is apparently going next.

MSC’s country manager in Brazil has announced that MSC Meraviglia will make its South American debut during the 2027/28 season, sailing from Santos with itineraries visiting Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. More detailed itineraries are expected to be released later.

A Much Bigger Caribbean Ship

For Southern Caribbean cruisers, this is a pretty significant upgrade in ship.

Instead of Meraviglia, MSC is sending its newest World Class flagship to the region. It also gives cruisers another warm-weather option for experiencing World Asia after the ship initially spends its early seasons sailing in Europe.

Bookings for the revised Winter 2027/28 World Asia itineraries are beginning to open, so we’ll be watching as MSC releases more details.
