MSC World Atlantic vs World America: What’s Different?

MSC World Atlantic is still more than a year away from its debut, but the ship is already starting to look very familiar.

Rather than dramatically reworking the World Class concept, MSC Cruises appears to be sticking closely to the formula used aboard MSC World America, with a handful of venue changes and new experiences sprinkled in.

Current deck plans and released details suggest World Atlantic will feel much more like an evolution of World America than an entirely new take on the class.

World Atlantic Will Be Very Similar to World America

MSC World Atlantic and MSC World America are nearly identical in size and will share the same seven-district layout.

Guests will once again find familiar areas including the World Promenade, World Galleria, Family Aventura, The Terraces, Aqua Deck, Zen Area and MSC Yacht Club.

Many of World America’s recognizable venues are also returning.

MSC has not yet revealed World Atlantic’s complete venue lineup, so restaurants that are currently missing should not necessarily be considered removed.

The Biggest Change Is The Clubhouse

One of the clearest changes comes in the ship’s family entertainment area.

MSC World America features the MSC Sportplex, while World Atlantic will instead have The Clubhouse.

The new concept will still offer activities such as bumper cars, pickleball and roller skating, but MSC is expanding the space into a broader family entertainment venue with a LEGO Family Zone, classic games and a retro-inspired soda pop bar.

The Clubhouse will first appear aboard MSC World Asia before making its U.S. debut aboard World Atlantic.

For guests familiar with World America, this will probably be one of the more noticeable changes.

Viva La Musica Adds Something New at Night

World Atlantic will also introduce Viva La Musica, a new Latin-inspired entertainment venue featuring live music, dancing and cocktails.

Importantly, it does not appear to be replacing The Loft.

MSC currently lists both venues for World Atlantic, meaning guests should still have access to The Loft’s comedy, karaoke and live entertainment alongside the new Latin nightlife venue.

That gives World Atlantic another evening option without significantly changing the rest of the ship’s entertainment lineup.

There Are a Few Smaller Changes Too

MSC is also promoting an Iyashi Dome inside the Aurea Spa, adding another wellness experience to the ship’s thermal offerings.

World Atlantic is currently listed with 2,582 staterooms compared with 2,614 aboard World America, although the ships’ overall passenger capacities remain extremely close.

Those differences are interesting, but they are relatively minor in the context of two enormous World Class ships.

Dining Is Still the Biggest Question Mark

This is where World Atlantic could eventually become more distinct.

World America introduced several restaurants specifically developed for the U.S. market, most notably Eataly and Paxos.

So far, MSC has confirmed familiar specialty restaurants aboard World Atlantic including Butcher’s Cut, Kaito Sushi, Kaito Teppanyaki and Hola! Tacos & Cantina.

However, MSC has not yet released the ship’s complete dining lineup.

That means the absence of Eataly, Paxos or another World America venue from current World Atlantic materials does not necessarily mean it will be gone.

There is still plenty of time for MSC to reveal additional restaurants before the ship launches.

World Atlantic Looks More Like World America 2.0

At least for now, guests shouldn’t expect MSC World Atlantic to completely reinvent World Class.

Instead, it looks like MSC is taking a ship designed specifically for the North American market and making a few targeted changes.

The Clubhouse replaces the Sportplex concept, Viva La Musica adds another nightlife option and the spa gains a new wellness experience, while most of World America’s major attractions and venues remain intact.

For anyone who already likes MSC World America, that may actually be good news.

And with World Atlantic not scheduled to begin sailing from Port Canaveral until November 2027, there are almost certainly more reveals still to come.
